Antumbra
audio visual installation, 2017
This large-scale audio/visual installation consists of two fluorescent light installations covered with frosted laser-cut acrylic and two laser devices as the hardware part. The installation performance lasts for three minutes and thirteen seconds, beginning with projected visuals, followed by layers of lasers and fluorescent lights, which build up and intertwine with sound to create a cohesive experience.
This installation is the culmination of my four years at university, utilizing familiar materials and the sound techniques I have continuously studied. I aim to evoke a mood that is both gloomy and intense, as if one were standing in the antumbra—the area of partial shadow during an eclipse. I hope that the audience can immerse themselves in the work in a more intuitive and visceral way.
